More about this list

Friday is when most Madrid clubs open their doors, and several say that anyone may come. Academia de Ajedrez Chamberí and Octava Casilla in Hortaleza hold free evenings that need no membership; Club Ajedrez Delicias tells newcomers to drop in, and Tres Cantos uses the evening to let people get to know the club. Diagonal Alcorcón has its weekly encounters, Ajedrez con Cabeza is open through the afternoon, and Jaque y Mate Venceremos in Alcalá de Henares opens on the first and third Friday of the month.

Two clubs end the week with blitz: Pozuelo follows free play with a social tournament at five minutes plus three seconds, and Las Rozas Reacciona plays a weekly lightning tournament. La Didáctica mentions tournaments on Fridays and Saturdays, and Torre de Éboli in Pinto gathers on Friday afternoons. Children's classes fill the earlier hours in Coslada, Rivas, Pueblo Nuevo, Majadahonda and San Sebastián de los Reyes, and Ajedrez Blanco y Negro teaches adults. Not every evening runs all year, so look at the date on the tile first.
